Romance- Love Actually

The opening scene of Love actually doesn't show any of the actors that are in the film, of any slight Glimpse of the story line of the film however it has lots of random strangers, reuniting at an airport presenting a great deal of... Love. This gives a very good introduction to the film as it brings the audiences attention to the feeling of love and creates a very heartwarming feeling.

The camera is fairly fair way from the couple that it is focusing on however it is focused to a close up shot. We know this cause they are always in forces however there are people in the near foreground that are not in focus suggesting that the camera is a great distance away. This gives the audience a feel that the camera is a passer by and that they feel as part of the crowds. Along side this it also creates a very upstaged and realistic feel, which makes the audience feel connected and comforted. The camera as o followed some of the people for example at the very beginning there is a panning shot as the crowds are very still however in the back ground a woman in wading her way through to a man in the middle of the crowd. The camera stops as she stops which bring the prominence on to that character. Some of the shots are also in slow motion, which prolonged the moment allowing the audience to absorb the facial expressions, body language and the maze en scene.

About 20 second in to the opening A mans voice comes in which many will soon realize is Hue Grant who is in the film itself: "Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I often think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow airport. Generally opinions a beginning to start out that we live in a world of hatred and greed... but I don't see that- seems to me that love is everywhere. Weather its not particularly dignified of newsworthy, but its always there- Fathers and Sons, Mothers and Daughters, husbands and wives, boy Friends, Girlfriends, old Friends. When the twin towers were hit as far as I know none of the messages of the people on board were of hatred or revenge, they were of love, if you look for it I have a sneaky feeling that you'll find that ' love is actually all around'"

This very inspirational, loving and heartwarming speech long with the connected shot on screen gives a very welcoming introduction to the film. The use of a recognizable, formal warming voice helps the audience to connect with the opening. This is not the only non diabetic should present as there is some very quite calming music going on. The expectations of this he throw airport scene would be very load and muffled however the direct wanted to focus directly on the love in the scene so therefore took out any f the diegetic sound and replaced it with a peaceful soundtrack.

This film has a range of extremely famous actors in it such as, Hugh GrantMartine McCutcheonLiam Neeson and many more which therefore means that the audience is very varied much like the actors and actresses fan base. The films age rating is 15+ however i believe this film's average viewing audience is 15-40 as it is very widely known and has a large recognisable cast.
